SHANGUMUGAM BEACH



  The Shangumugam Beach is located about 16 kms from Trivandrum. This beach is a favourite place for the sunset viewers. The main attractions of this beach are an indoor recreation club, the Matsya Kanyaka (a gigantic, 35m long sculpture of a mermaid ) and a restaurant shaped like a starfish. The beach is situated nearby Thiruvananthapuram Airport and Veli Tourist Village.

 Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. It has been a favourite haunt of tourists, especially Europeans, since the 1930 s. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. 

                                                          

 The leisure options at this beach are plenty and diverse. Sunbathing, Swimming, Herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes and catamaran cruising are some of them. The tropical sun acts so fast that one can see the faint blush of coppery tan on the skin in a matter of minutes. life on the beach begins late in the day and carries on well into the night. The beach complex includes a string of budget cottages, Ayurvedic health resorts, convention facilities, shopping zones, swimming pools, Yoga and Ayurvedic massage centers.

 Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, is just 16 kms away from Kovalam and getting there is no hassle. But if you are on holiday it is better to stay in Kovalam and visit the city.

 Thiruvallam is one of the top and most famous backwater destination in Kerala. It falls in Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala State.

 Awesome  beauty of backwaters of Thiruvallam is the gift of wide varieties of both flora and fauna that grows in the area. The banks are made absolutely stunning by Coconut palms  which stand in lines on the banks of the Killi river and the Karamana river, two rivers which remain the backbone of Thiruvallam.

                                                                                

  As these rivers current is very gentle and calm, tourist can have a lot of cherishing  moments on the water, if they spend there moments on  houseboats. Everyone enjoys there ride on houseboats.

AKKULAM TOURIST VILLAGE


Akkulam Tourist Village located about 10kms from Thiruvananthapuram City is a beautiful picnic spot and well known backwater destination. Akkulam is  one of the first picnic spots in the suburbs of Trivandrum city. This place is only 10kms away from the Central Railway Station.

The spot is developed on the banks of Akkulam Kayal (Backwaters). The village consist of the Boat Club, Swimming Pool, Children's Park and an Anthurium Project.

  The Veli Tourist Village is sandwiched between the Veli lagoons and the Arabian Sea. This picnic spot is about 8 kms from Trivandrum. The lagoon here is seperated from the sea by a narrow sand bar. Various facilities are available at the village. 



  Which includes water spots in the lagoon and an 18 acre waterfront park with a floating bridge that connects the village to the beach. Paddleboats and Speedboats can be hired at this place to explore the charms of the lagoon in a leisurely way. The children can also enjoy climbing over the huge sculptures which dot the landscape.
